Swap your fancy moisturisers and lotions for the likes of Vaseline, which is perfect for shiny, healthy winter lips and soft skin, and baby lotion - which not only makes a great body moisturiser but also doubles up as a make-up remover, plus a wonderful way to give your cheeks a glow. Use baby oil as an eye make-up remover.

Alcohol dehydrates you, making your skin dull and dry, and is also likely to give you dark shadows under your eyes. So cut down, drink plenty of water and watch your skin regain its healthy glow as a result.

Sleep is essential for glowing skin and a happy and healthy body. It will help to banish dark circles under your eyes, lift your mood, and of course it's also a credit crunch tip because when you're asleep, you can't spend any money!

To get rid of puffy eyes or dark shadows press the back of frozen spoons onto them.

Make your own exfoliator with oats and honey; deep-cleanse your face with a simple steam facial (try adding a herbal teabag, such as peppermint or camomile), or try a face mask made from avocado and banana mixed with lemon juice and olive oil.
